  7. The file you have downloaded, FPVIDW95.EXE contains Windows 95 
  8. drivers for the Fahrenheit ProVideo 64 board.  This is a 
  9. supplemental driver release, not a complete driver disk set.  
  10. This does not replace your existing Fahrenheit ProVideo 64 driver 
  11. disk set version 1.0, but is a supplement to it.  This readme 
  12. file contains instructions for installing the drivers.  You have 
  13. already completed the first step, by unpacking the FPVIDW95.EXE 
  14. file and reading this.

  16. When you unpack FPVIDW95.EXE you should have the following files:

  25. Installing the Drivers

  28. These instructions assume that you already have the Fahrenheit 
  29. ProVideo 64 board installed in your system, and that you already 
  30. have the Windows 95 operating system installed on your hard disk.  
  31. You should use the Windows 95 "Add New Hardware" procedure to 
  32. install these new drivers.  The Windows95 "Add New Hardware" 
  33. procedure is menu driven, and fairly self explanatory.  Here are 
  34. the step-by-step instructions for the procedure.

  37. 1.  Before beginning new driver installation, we recommend that 
  38.     you shut down any other programs you may be running.
  39.  
  40. 2.  From the Windows 95 desktop, select the icon, "My Computer", 
  41.     then double click on the "Control Panel" icon.
  42.  
  43. 3.  From the Control Panel Window, double click on the "Add New 
  44.     Hardware" icon.  When the introductory "Add New Hardware 
  45.     Wizard" screen comes up, click on the "Next" button.
  46.  
  47. 4.  The Wizard will ask you, "Do you want Windows to search for 
  48.     your new hardware?"  Select "NO", and click on the "Next" 
  49.     button.

  51. 5.  A menu tree is displayed titled, "Hardware types".  Double 
  52.     click on the "Display adapters" selection.  
  53.  
  54. 6.  Lists of display "Manufacturers", and "Models" will show on 
  55.     screen.  Instead of selecting from the existing lists, click 
  56.     on the "Have Disk" button (below the "Models" column).  
  57.  
  58. 7.  The Wizard will ask you for a drive letter and path 
  59.     specification for the new drivers.  Fill in the appropriate 
  60.     information for your system (the drive and directory name 
  61.     where you unpacked the new drivers).
  62.  
  63. 8.  When the "Models" list comes up, select "Orchid Technology 
  64.     Fahrenheit ProVideo 64", then press the "Next" button.  
  65.  
  66. 9.  You may see some messages flash quickly on the screen as the 
  67.     new files are copied, then click on the "Finish" button.  At 
  68.     this point, you can shutdown and restart so the changes will 
  69.     take affect.

  71. The procedure for setting the driver resolution, board refresh 
  72. rates, monitor type and color depth hasn't changed, you should 
  73. use the standard Windows 95 methods.  From Control Panel, double 
  74. click on the "Display" icon, then select the "Settings" tab.

  80. Driver now supports 1600x1200 for boards with 2 megabytes of RAM.
